Fundraising leader and prospect research pioneer Peter McKinley is bringing his more than two decades of field-leading experience to the Armstrong Strategy Group Team.
McKinley, a recognized expert in donor engagement, fundraising and donor relations, joins Armstrong Strategy Group (ASG) in the role of Senior Associate. Partnering with the team at ASG, Peter is ready to help fundraising organizations realize their revenue development opportunities.
“By adding my skills to the strength and range of expertise at ASG, there’s so much we can do to help clients make the most of their fundraising opportunities,” says McKinley. “This is a strong team of creative problem-solvers and I’m looking forward to working with them to strengthen communities and organizations.”
ASG President John Armstrong says, “Peter’s track record of innovation and success in his field adds incredible new breadth and depth to our team of public affairs professionals and fits very well with our organization and culture. We’re excited about having Peter with us. The possibilities for the great things we can do together for the people and organizations we work with are just astounding.”
An expert in donor pipeline development, Peter has focused on analyzing the lifecycle of donor engagement, recognizing that connections start with even the earliest awareness a potential donor has for a charity.
Peter built the donor pipeline from scratch at the Ivey Business School, providing critical strategic support for the successful $80 million Ivey Campaign, the largest single faculty campaign of its time in Canada. While at Ivey, working onsite and from the main campus, Peter was a key member of the team that established the first on the ground western business school operation in Hong Kong.
Peter proposed, developed and delivered a ground-breaking graduate level course on prospect research and fundraising at Western University, and is co-author of the Globe and Mail Best-selling Business Book Excellence in Fundraising in Canada.
In progressively responsible roles with Brock University, Peter again was a leader in the effort to bring a fundraising operation from a standing start to success, resulting in the completion of the $90 million Bold New Brock Campaign. As Executive Director, Alumni and Development in Brock’s 50th anniversary year, Peter provided leadership through an unprecedented effort to engage alumni, including a 500% increase in Homecoming attendance and 47% quarter over quarter increase in donations.
As Director of Development at OneFoundation, the fundraising arm of Niagara Health, the largest multisite hospital system in Ontario, Peter built the profile of the newly established foundation with donors across Niagara, was a leader on the team that raised nearly $6 million annually.
