Rejoining ASG after almost a decade, Gord is an accomplished brand strategist and fundraising professional, with vast and diverse experience spanning over three decades in the private and public sectors.
Gord’s career began in financial services, including sales and marketing at the Canadian Tire Bank and a leadership role in the creation of Meridian Credit Union, Ontario’s largest financial cooperative.
His career in post-secondary leadership began at Niagara College, where he took on several roles, culminating in the AVP, Planning and Communications position. Gord joined Brock University, and as Associate Vice President, External Relations, he successfully positioned the university for significant enrollment growth and profile. He then joined the University of Saskatchewan, one of Canada’s Top 15 universities, as Chief Communications Officer and AVP Strategic Communications. At USask, Gord and his team developed the brand platform that was instrumental in the success of the university’s record-breaking capital campaign. He then moved to First Nations University of Canada, the country’s national Indigenous university, as their inaugural VP, University Relations, establishing the university’s first advancement unit. At FNUniv, Gord led the development of donor and stakeholder engagement strategies, working with funders, foundations, and major corporations in successful fundraising efforts to support students and the university’s growth plans.
In all leadership roles, Gord has successfully re-branded and re-positioned the respective institutions for enhanced profile and growth, implemented robust issues management processes, built strong and effective teams, and developed innovative engagement and fundraising strategies for both immediate and long-term impact. Gord’s career to date has resulted in a strong network of associates, colleagues, and contacts throughout Southern Ontario, Western Canada, and Ottawa, in multiple sectors.
